Your first lesson is your initial evaluation. This is an extended appointment that is 90–120 minutes long. You can book your initial evaluation or sign up for a free 15-minute phone call to ask any questions above. You can also email us at info@leashandlearnnyc.com.

At your initial evaluation, we will :

• Assess your dog’s current behavior
• Set achievable and realistic goals for you and your family
• Discuss follow-up package recommendations
• Start training the most relevant foundation skills

Training is more successful when it is implemented consistently. For that reason, we recommend all members of the family attend your initial evaluation. Getting everyone organized and on the same page is a huge part of ensuring your success. If that is not possible, the primary caretaker should be the person present at the initial evaluation.

No, we do not offer any refunds, and lessons expire 6 months from the date of purchase.

Rescheduling and cancellation require 48 hours notice. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the appointment fee. If your cancellation is made more than 48 hours in advanced, your fee will be applied towards the new appointment day/time. If you reschedule 3 appointments, the third will count as a lesson and will result in forfeiture of the appointment fee.

We accept all major credit cards, cash, check, and Zelle. Standard NYS sales tax of 8.875% is added to all sales.

There are many (many!) factors that affect the outcome of dog training and behavioral modification. Including, but not limited to: dog’s genetics and learning history, owner commitment, current environment, and medical conditions. Leash and Learn does not guarantee any training outcomes.

We will treat you and your family with kindness and without judgment. We operate under the assumption that everyone is doing the best they can with the resources they have available. We respect that everyone is coming from a different place and needs kindness, compassion, and care to excel.

Honesty

Leash and Learn is honest and upfront at all times. We present facts in an unbiased manner and we will not mislead you. Sometimes this means we may tell you things you don’t want to hear, and we are sorry. But, without providing honest and correct information, we would be doing you a disservice.

If you’re in it, we’re in it! Leash and learn will work just as hard as your are to help your dog change for the better. We have fun taking training seriously and will be there every step of the way with you until you achieve your goals.

Education 

Leash and Learn regularly takes continuing education courses to stay up to date on the latest dog training news and breakthroughs. If at any time we do not feel we are equipped to handle the behavior problems you are encountering we will be honest and upfront about it, and we will refer you to someone who is better suited for your needs.

Success 

Leash and Learn will always set you and your dog up for success as best we can, and we will never set you up for failure. We love seeing people and their dogs reach their goals, and while we cannot guarantee specific training or behavior outcomes, we can guarantee that we will do everything in our power to lead you step by step towards success.
