Proper socialization before your puppy is 16 weeks old is proven to help your puppy become a happy, well-adjusted, safe dog.
After this time, you lose your chance to expose them to the world and you run the risk of having a city dog who doesn’t like other dogs, is unfriendly to people, and is scared of the sights and sounds of NYC.
Not all socialization is created equal, the wrong types of socialization can actually do more harm than good, and can lead to aggression and anxiety later in life. We help you avoid common mistakes that puppy owners make while socializing their puppy, such as:

Puppy Training Options
We know that training a puppy is overwhelming. Leash and Learn offers two specialized training paths you can choose from. You will have the puppy of your dreams with both, but they get you there in very different ways.
Accelerated Learning
Puppy Jumpstart Programs
New Yorkers are busy. Time is precious and there aren’t enough hours in a day. Our jumpstart programs are designed to give you some time back while we train your puppy for you.
How it works
- A trainer comes to your home 3 times per week to train your puppy
- You receive detailed notes, pictures, and/or videos after every session
- We focus on leash walking, obedience, socialization, manners, crate training, and any other skills your puppy needs to learn
- On your own you focus on potty training, socialization, and biting and nipping
- We meet every 1-2 weeks to teach you how to implement the skills

Guided Learning
Basic Puppy Lessons
If you have been dreaming of training your dog yourself this is the perfect path for you! Our basic programs are designed for us to teach you how to train your dog
How it works
- A trainer comes to your home and meets with you once per week
- We answer your questions, and show you what to practice that week
- You receive detailed notes, pictures, and/or videos after every session
Benefits
- Requires more time, but less sessions
- You do homework between every session
- You train your puppy yourself with our expert guidance
- Phone and email support while we work together
- Individualized training plan tailored to meet your family’s unique needs
Your investment
While training is highly customized to your dog and family, there is a basic framework that all clients follow when starting with training with Leash and Learn. This system sets everyone up for success and ensures better training results.
Initial Evaluation
1.5 Hours - $415
Your 90-minute Initial Evaluation is where we’ll create a clear strategy for your dog’s training journey. Every client completes an initial consultation.
We will:
- Identify the challenges you’re facing, pinpoint the specific behaviors you’re looking to address and determine the most effective training approach to help your whole family reach your goals.
- You will gain a comprehensive understanding of your dog’s current behavior.
- Collaborate on setting realistic and achievable goals; short-term, and long-term.
- Discuss tailored follow-up training options.
- Begin teaching key foundation skills that will make a real difference.
After completion of your initial evaluation, you will receive access to your Leash & Learning plan through your own Training Hub!

Follow Up Lessons
1 Hour Each
Your 60-minute follow-up lessons are designed to build directly on the goals and exercises we started together during your Initial Evaluation.
Option 1: Puppy Jumpstart Program
Accelerated Learning:
- We come to your home 3 times per week to train your puppy for you.
- You do not need to be present at these appointments.
- Experience intensive support, individualized attention and effective training.
- Every session is carefully planned to ensure that it aligns perfectly with your dog’s individual Leash and Learning plan.
- You receive detailed updates (notes, photos, videos) in your training hub after every session.
Option 2: Basic Program
Guided Learning:
- We come to your home once every 1-2 weeks to meet together.
You need to be present for all sessions.
We show you exactly what to practice and how.
- Experience intensive support, individualized attention and effective training.
You reinforce your dog’s learning with daily practice; consistent daily practice between sessions is key.
- Every session is carefully planned to ensure that it aligns perfectly with your dog’s individual Leash and Learning plan.
- You receive detailed updates (notes, photos, videos) in your training hub after every session.
